Thai Spice Near Beltway

Leaney and I tried to go out to dinner last Friday, and ended up in the spiral of death restaurant hunt. We started out at Angus Grill, which was completely packed and had a 2 hour wait. We then tried to go to Toku Sushi (one of our favs), which had an eviction notice on the door! We ended up at Thai Spice near the Beltway, where I enjoyed this delicious plate of pad see ew. The best part of this meal? I had a coupon from that obscure coupon book that I buy every year (buy 1 get 1 free dinner). The most random part of the night was bumping into some of our friends who were there randomly...nearly outside of the double loop.

One more final to go. I am still kind of weirded out by the last two finals I've taken. It's been a pretty damn challenging semester, but hopefully next will be a lot more chill. It feels weird to "only" take exams and study for 10 hours today. Why isn't Super Lin-tendo on ESPN more? Celtics vs. Thunder was awful.

Kiran's Catering

Last week, we had some Kiran's during our free food Thursday! They brought chicken tikka masala, along with a bunch of other random goodies for us to chow down on. The food was good as always, but I really wish we had some samosas as well!! I've got 2 more finals this week, and I've definitely paced myself pretty well so far. I feel pretty much ready for tomorrow's final, with just a bit more information to go over tonight before I have a glass of wine and watch 2.5 men. STRETCH RUN HERE WE COME!

Valentines Day Dinner

So this is what poor people do for Valentines...they stay in and eat home cooked meals. Not too bad if you ask me! We had chicken parm (non-breaded) along with a healthy pasta that we got from the Folloders for our housewarming 8 months ago! I couldn't ask for anything more...a great meal with my great wife. Too bad we had homework to go with this meal as well. 3 DAYS LEFT IN THE HALF-SEMESTER!!!!! 45 straight 12+ hour days of work. I am pretty tired, but at least the efforts have paid off. Looking forward to my first day off in over a month and a half this coming Saturday. WEDDING TIME FOR THE KRANGS IN DALLAS.

Cake Tasting - Supreme Kakes

Another badass part of wedding planning is the cake tasting! We hit up Supreme Kakes last week (off Memorial) and tried so many cakes that I didn't even know what I was eating anymore. I'm pretty pumped for my groom's cake, which will be on proud display in less than 4 months. The carrot cake was my favorite, but to be honest I ate most of the cakes before the guy even came by to tell us what they were. The cakes were very moist, rich and delicious (every flavor was at the very least decent). I've always thought most wedding cakes were OK at best, but I'm pretty pumped for the one we ordered!!!

Giveral - BBQ Chicken Banh Mi

This was the first "BBQ" chicken banh mi that I've ever had. I usually get the shredded chicken (when I don't get the BBQ pork), and the moral of the story here is that I should have stuck to my guns. The BBQ flavor (same as for the pork) really felt forced on the chicken. It was way too salty, and the chunks of chicken were a bit too overwhelming (I think sauce sticks on chicken more than it sticks on pork). This was better than the shitty tofu banh mi I had a while back, but I think I should just stick to the B-10 from now on, with MAYBE the occasional shredded chicken. Tough L.

Whataburger - Chicken Fajita Wrap & SPICY KETCHUP

I finally had a 30 minute break in my schedule (on my way to a networking coffee), so I decided to stop at Whataburger and try two of their new menu items. The grilled chicken fajita wrap was DECENT, but way over-priced for what you are getting. I opted to pass on the cheese, so basically this was just half of a grilled chicken breast inside of a tortilla w/ some onions and peppers. My first thought was that this thing was a bit "healthier" than other options, but I quickly realized that the sucker was DRIPPING oil. It should probably be priced at $2....but I think this was over $4 which is absolute robbery.

To go with the chicken wrap, I ordered a single chicken tender to be eaten with some of the new SPICY ketchup! I was a little disappointed by this as well, as the over-powering (cayenne?) taste is just a bit too much. The regular ketchup at Whataburger was already perfect, so I think they should have just left it alone. Oh well...shitty $6 meal. I'll stick with my HONEY BUTTER CHICKEN BISCUITS.

Flora & Muse

After driving around about 45 minutes looking for parking, the Hazzy's and I finally pulled into a spot on the 8th deck of the new Town & Country center. We met up w/ Shasie and her crew to celebrate Shasie's 28th bday over at Flora & Muse (over-priced American food). I ended up going with a grilled cheese w/ tomato sandwich, partially because I was in the mood for it, and partially because everything else was $25 or more! I had 2 beers (not too horrible at $5/each), and then chowed down on plenty of birthday cake. Overall, this place seems like it has decent food, but I had a bite of Shasie's chicken, which seemed dry and overcooked. I would probably rather go to any small diner for this type of meal. The parking at Town & Country on the weekends is my worst nightmare.
